Statement of Condemnation of the Armenian National Committee of Jerusalem

This grave incident joins a continuing series of attacks, intimidation, and violence against the Armenian community in Jerusalem. Such repeated attacks deepen the concern that their perpetrators operate in a climate of impunity. While these acts do not represent Israeli society as a whole, the lack of consistent law enforcement and prosecution of those responsible contributes to the continuation of such attacks.

Այս ծանր միջադէպը կը միանայ Երուսաղէմի հայ համայնքին դէմ ուղղուած ոտնձգութիւններու, ահաբեկման եւ բռնարարքներու շարունակական շարքին։ Այսպիսի կրկնուող յարձակումները կը խորացնեն այն մտահոգութիւնը, թէ անոնց հեղինակները կը գործեն անպատժելիութեան մթնոլորտի մէջ։ Թէեւ այս արարքները չեն ներկայացներ իսրայէլեան հասարակութիւնը իր ամբողջութեամբ, պատասխանատուներուն նկատմամբ հետեւողական օրէնքի կիրարկման եւ դատական հետապնդման բացակայութիւնը կը նպաստէ նման յարձակումներու շարունակութեան։

We call on the President of the State of Israel, Mr. Yitzhak Herzog, to publicly condemn this attack and reaffirm the State of Israel’s commitment to protecting the security, dignity, and fundamental rights of Jerusalem and all religious and national communities in Israel.

Մենք կոչ կ՛ընենք Իսրայէլի Պետութեան Նախագահ Պարոն Իցհակ Հերցոկին հրապարակաւ դատապարտելու այս յարձակումը եւ վերահաստատելու Իսրայէլի Պետութեան յանձնառութիւնը՝ որն է պաշտպանել Երուսաղէմի եւ Իսրայէլի բոլոր կրօնական եւ ազգային համայնքներուն անվտանգութիւնը, արժանապատուութիւնն ու հիմնարար իրաւունքները։

At the same time, we also call on the Israeli government and law enforcement agencies to take immediate and decisive steps to conduct a comprehensive and impartial investigation, to ensure the equal application of the law, and to bring those responsible to justice so that they can be fully held accountable for their actions.

Միաժամանակ, մենք նաեւ կոչ կ՛ուղղենք Իսրայէլի կառավարութեան եւ օրէնքի կիրարկման պատասխանատու մարմիններուն անհապաղ եւ վճռական քայլեր ձեռնարկելու, կատարելու համապարփակ եւ անաչառ քննութիւն, ապահովելու համար օրէնքի հաւասար կիրարկումը եւ պատասխանատուները բերելու դատարանի առջեւ, որպէսզի անոնք ամբողջովին պատասխանատուութիւն կրեն իրենց արարքներուն համար։

We also appeal to the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International, B’Tselem, the Israel Civil Liberties Union, foreign diplomatic missions, and the international community to closely monitor these developments, publicly express their concern, and take effective steps to protect the rights, security, and historical presence of the Armenian community in Jerusalem.

Մենք նաեւ կը դիմենք ՄԱԿ-ի Մարդու Իրաւանց Բարձր Յանձնակատարի Գրասենեակին, Human Rights Watch-ին, Amnesty International-ին, «Պեցելեմ»ին, Իսրայէլի Քաղաքացիական Իրաւունքներու Միութեան, օտարերկրեայ դիւանագիտական ներկայացուցչութիւններուն եւ միջազգային հանրութեան՝ մօտէն հետեւելու այս զարգացումներուն, հրապարակաւ արտայայտելու իրենց մտահոգութիւնը եւ գործուն քայլեր ձեռնարկելու՝ պաշտպանելու համար Երուսաղէմի հայ համայնքի իրաւունքները, անվտանգութիւնն ու պատմական ներկայութիւնը։

Protecting the security, dignity, and historical presence of the Armenian community in Jerusalem is not only a moral and legal obligation, but also a necessary condition for preserving the unique multi-religious, multicultural, and historical nature of Jerusalem as a holy city for the three monotheistic religions.

Երուսաղէմի հայ համայնքի անվտանգութեան, արժանապատուութեան եւ պատմական ներկայութեան պաշտպանութիւնը ո՛չ միայն բարոյական եւ իրաւական պարտաւորութիւն է, այլեւ անհրաժեշտ պայման՝ պահպանելու Երուսաղէմի իւրայատուկ բազմակրօն, բազմամշակութային եւ պատմական բնոյթը՝ որպէս սուրբ քաղաք երեք միաստուածային կրօններուն համար ։
