On September 29, on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of Armenia's independence, as a result of cooperation between the municipalities of Komotini and Ioannina and the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in Greece, the Peace Square of the city of Komotini and the building of the Municipality of Ioannina were illuminated with the colors of the three-color flag of the Armenian Patriarchate.
