Ukrainian drones attacked the republic of Adygea in the early morning of Wednesday, setting fire to a logistics centre belonging to major Russian marketplace OZON in the city of Adygeisk. Drone debris also damaged a gas pipe and the windows of a private house in the village of Petrov in the Teuchezhsky district, Adygean Head Murat Kumpilov said. Kumpilov claimed that all employees at the facility were evacuated in time, adding that it is unknown if there were any casualties. OZON confirmed in a statement that the logistics centre had been targeted by a drone. The company said a fire had broken out at the facility and that emergency services were working at the scene. Following the damage to the warehouse, the company temporarily removed goods stored there from its online catalogue. Some existing orders will be cancelled, while the rest will be delivered from other warehouses. The facility has stopped accepting new deliveries, and goods already in transit will be redirected to other logistics centres, the company said. One of the marketplace's employees said he expected another strike, as only one section had been hit overnight while the rest of the logistics complex remained intact. ‘This is some really fucking scary shit, but fortunately I was in a different section. I'm fine, I've already left the place’, the young man said. Eyewitnesses in local chat groups reviewed by OC Media wrote that the road had been closed to heavy goods vehicles in the morning. Despite Adygeisk being a small city with a population of just 13,000, the OZON warehouse is one of the company's largest and most important distribution hubs in southern Russia. The total area of the logistics complex is estimated at around 10,000 square metres. The facility, which opened in 2023. employs around 1,500 people and handles deliveries to Krasnodar, Sochi, Maikop, Vladikavkaz, and other cities in the region. Within the company's logistics network, it belongs to the Krasnodar cluster, with Krasnodar located just 30 kilometres away. It is also the only OZON facility in southern Russia that processes jewellery. In the village of Petrov, drone debris damaged a gas pipe and the windows of a private house. The gas leak was fixed, Kumpilov wrote . Another drone debris impact was recorded near the aul of Takhtamukai. According to Kumpilov, there was no damage or casualties there either. The attack came amid a large-scale overnight drone assault on Russian regions. According to Russia’s Defence Ministry, air defence systems intercepted and destroyed 709 drones over 15 regions of the country, as well as over the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea. It isn’t the first time that Ukraine has targeted logistics centres in Adygea. On 24 August, a drone strike sparked a fire at an OZON logistics centre in the settlement of Enem in the republic's Takhtamukai district. No casualties were reported. On 28 October, Ozon estimated the damage caused by drone attacks on 11 of its logistics centres across Russia at more than ₽30 billion ($36 million). The insurance programme covering goods against large-scale damage has been closed since 13 October, meaning that entrepreneurs whose goods were stored at the Adygeisk facility will not receive insurance compensation. The company has not said what will happen to the goods destroyed in the fire.
