On March 27, 2026, members of the “Call of the Sons” public organisation, whose members are parents of servicemen killed in the 44-day war, held a protest outside the Prosecutor General’s Office and filed a crime report against Nikol Pashinyan in connection with a statement he made in the National Assembly: “In 2020, we made a conscious sacrifice, and as a result, we gained a state and independence. Before that, we were not the ones responsible for all the sacrifices; they led us to the scaffold and sacrificed us for their own interests. For the first time, we made a sacrifice for our own interests—for the state, our identity and our future.” The parents of the fallen servicemen considered these words an admission that the war had been deliberately provoked, resulting in their sons’ deaths. They organised a signature drive outside the Prosecutor General’s Office and submitted the crime report to the office. At the time, we were told by the Prosecutor General’s Office that the report had been processed in accordance with the established procedure. Lawyer Vahan Hovhannisyan, who handles the organisation’s legal matters, had filed a complaint with the prosecutor over the Investigative Committee’s decision not to initiate criminal proceedings. The complaint was rejected. The lawyer had told us they planned to appeal to the court, asking it to compel the investigative body to initiate criminal proceedings. Hovhannisyan told us: “We appealed to the court and were rejected. We have applied to the Court of Cassation; after that, we will go to the ECHR.” The post Parents who lost their sons will take their case to the ECHR first appeared on Western Armenia TV .
