The work of Syrian-Armenian artist Gevorg Murad is being presented in the French capital as part of Asia NOW – Paris Asian Art Fair, an exhibition and art fair dedicated to Asian art. Murad was born in Qamishli, studied in Yerevan, and now lives and works in New York. He is known for his painting installations and his distinctive live-drawing technique, through which he creates large-scale canvases in real time during musical performances. For many years, the artist has collaborated with the Silkroad Ensemble, founded by cellist Yo-Yo Ma. His performances have been hosted by prestigious institutions such as Carnegie Hall and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. One of his notable works is the “Sound of Stone” project, created for the “Armenia!” exhibition held in New York. Gevorg Murad also took part in creating the multimedia project “Armenian Odyssey” with composer Vache Sharafyan and cellist Narek Aknazaryan. The central themes of the artist’s work are Armenian heritage, historical memory, the idea of home, and the preservation of cultural identity. He combines these themes with contemporary graphic art and music, creating distinctive and layered forms of artistic expression.
