CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — Holy Trinity Armenian Church of Greater Boston recently welcomed more than 100 performers and a captivated audience for its inaugural Choral and Chamber Music Festival, an evening celebrating the rich musical traditions of Armenia and the United States. Held in celebration of America’s 250th anniversary, the festival brought together musicians and choral ensembles from throughout Greater Boston for an evening of classical and spiritual music, highlighting both Armenian and Western musical traditions. The program opened with the Consonare Chamber Players, who performed works by two pioneering American women composers, Amy Beach and Florence Price. Their music offered a meaningful reflection on the depth and diversity of the American musical tradition as the nation celebrates its 250th anniversary. The evening continued with performances by five choral groups: the Erevan Choral Society, Canton Choral Society, ArtNova Hamazkayin Choir of Boston, Creare Symphonia and the Harvard Glee Club. As one of Cambridge’s longstanding institutions, Holy Trinity was especially pleased to welcome the Harvard Glee Club, connecting the festival to the broader Cambridge community and celebrating the vibrant musical culture for which the city is known. The participation of the Glee Club alongside Armenian and Greater Boston choral ensembles created a unique evening of musical exchange and collaboration. Together, the more than 100 performers presented a program that crossed cultural and musical traditions, bringing Armenian and Western classical and spiritual music together under one roof. An intermission with hors d’oeuvres also provided an opportunity for performers and audience members to gather and connect during the evening. The evening concluded with a particularly meaningful moment as performers and audience members came together to sing Hayr Mer and “God Bless America.” The shared singing offered a fitting conclusion to an evening centered on music, community, and cultural heritage. Holy Trinity Armenian Church is proud to have launched this festival as an opportunity to celebrate music, culture, and community, and looks forward to building upon its inaugural year in the future.
