Diocesan Report Meeting and Reception in Honor of His Holiness the Prelate

Both speeches, by their content, became an opportunity to bring together religious and lay representatives involved in diocesan life and the renewal of national life.

Եր­կու ե­լոյթ­նե­րը, ի­րենց բո­վան­դա­կու­թեամբ, ա­ռիթ դար­ձան թե­մա­կան կեան­քին հետ առնչու­թիւն ու­նե­ցող կրօ­նա­կան եւ աշ­խար­հա­կան ներ­կա­յա­ցու­ցիչ­նե­րու հա­մախմ­բու­մին եւ ազ­գա­յին կեան­քի վե­րա­նո­րոգ­ման։

On Saturday, October 3, 2026, in the “Zakarian-Sarajian” twin halls of the “Zavarian” center in Gokinia, the diocesan deputies, as well as representatives of the National Administration of Greek Armenians, the Religious Assembly, and the neighboring and neighborhood councils, gathered under the leadership of the Prelate, to review the activities of the National Authorities over the past year, and also to honor the Diocesan Primate.

It should be noted that the deputies from Northern Greece participated in the meeting via online connection and fully followed its proceedings.

Ն­շենք, որ ­Հիւ­սի­սա­յին ­Յու­նաս­տա­նի պատ­գա­մա­ւոր­նե­րը ժո­ղո­վին մաս­նա­կից դար­ձան առ­ցանց կա­պով ու լիո­վին հե­տե­ւե­ցան ա­նոր ըն­թաց­քին։

The diocesan assembly was opened by the Prelate, who highlighted the scope of the multifaceted activities of diocesan life.

­Թե­մա­կան ժո­ղո­վի բաց­ման խօս­քով հան­դէս ե­կաւ Սր­բա­զան հայ­րը, որ լու­սար­ձա­կի ա­ռաւ թե­մա­կան կեան­քի բազ­մե­րես գոր­ծու­նէու­թեան ծա­ւա­լու­մը։

He emphasized the importance of the purpose of the meeting and emphasized the achievements in the spiritual and educational spheres, pointing out all the challenges that characterize the existence of the Greek-Armenian community today and in the future.

Ան կա­րե­ւո­րու­թեամբ շեշ­տեց ժո­ղո­վի նպա­տա­կը եւ շեշ­տը դրաւ հո­գե­ւոր ու կրթա­կան ո­լորտ­նե­րուն մէջ կա­տա­րո­ւած ի­րա­գոր­ծում­նե­րուն, մատ­նան­շե­լով այն բո­լոր մար­տահ­րա­ւէր­նե­րը, ո­րոնք այ­սօր եւ ա­պա­գա­յին հա­մար կը յատ­կան­շեն յու­նա­հայ հա­մայն­քի գո­յու­թիւ­նը։

He also touched upon the upcoming General Assembly of the Catholicosate of the Great House of Cilicia and the election of delegates in connection with the participation of the Greek-Armenian Diocese.

Ան նաեւ անդ­րա­դարձ կա­տա­րեց ­Մե­ծի ­Տանն ­Կի­լի­կիոյ կա­թո­ղի­կո­սու­թեան յա­ռա­ջի­կայ Ընդհ.

Subsequently, the Meeting listened to the letter of His Holiness Aram I addressed to the Diocesan Assembly, in which the Catholicos first welcomed the convening of the meeting, then brought to the attention of the Assembly the important points related to national and church activities.

First of all, the annual report of the National Executive was presented on the poster, via slides.

Detailed information was provided on the progress of the administrative, educational, economic, relational and social work carried out to date, with appropriate explanations given under each chapter.

­Վե­հա­փառ հայ­րա­պե­տին նա­մա­կը՝ ուղ­ղո­ւած ­Թե­մա­կան ժո­ղո­վին, ո­րուն մէջ կա­թո­ղի­կո­սը նախ կ­՚ող­ջու­նէր ժո­ղո­վի գու­մա­րու­մը, ա­պա ժո­ղո­վի ու­շադ­րու­թեան կը յանձ­նէր այն կա­րե­ւոր կէ­տե­րը, ո­րոնք առն­չո­ւած են ազ­գա­յին եւ ե­կե­ղե­ցա­կան գոր­ծու­նէու­թեան հետ։

Then, the summary report of the Religious Assembly was presented, clarifying the picture of spiritual provision and the programs implemented so far.

Ա­ռա­ջին հեր­թին, ներ­կա­յա­ցո­ւե­ցաւ Ազ­գա­յին վար­չու­թեան միա­մեայ տե­ղե­կա­գի­րը պաս­տա­ռի վրայ՝ սա­հիկ­նե­րու ճամ­բով։

The assembly became aware of the overall picture of the situation for the past year, then, through questions and explanations, specific explanations were given on the issues existing within each field.

Տ­րո­ւե­ցան ման­րա­մասն տե­ղե­կու­թիւն­ներ մին­չեւ օրս կա­տա­րո­ւած վար­չա­կան, կրթա­կան, տնտե­սա­կան, յա­րա­բե­րա­կան եւ ըն­կե­րա­յին աշ­խա­տանք­նե­րու ըն­թաց­քին մա­սին, իւ­րա­քան­չիւր գլու­խին տակ տա­լով հա­մա­պա­տաս­խան բա­ցատ­րու­թիւն­ներ։

The assembly was also busy with the development of new proposals and suggestions regarding the activities of the next year.

Ա­պա, ներ­կա­յա­ցո­ւե­ցաւ Կ­րօ­նա­կան ժո­ղո­վի ամ­փոփ տե­ղե­կա­գի­րը, պար­զե­լով հո­գե­ւոր մա­տա­կա­րար­ման պատ­կե­րը եւ ցարդ ի­րա­գոր­ծո­ւած ծրա­գիր­նե­րը։

The last part of the agenda was the election of three deputies to the General Assembly of the Catholicosate of the Great House of Cilicia, who will represent the Greek-Armenian diocese at the meeting to be held in Antelias next January.

The reception and hospitality in honor of the Prelate’s Holiness, in conjunction with the work of the Diocesan Assembly, provided a fitting occasion for all actors of national diocesan life to jointly and with due respect honor the 20th anniversary of the priestly ordination of the Prelate, His Eminence Bishop Sahak Yemishian, as well as the awarding of his university doctorate from the renowned American Fordham University.

The opening of the evening of honor was performed by the Chairman of the National Executive, Nazar Avagian, who emphasized that the 20-year service of Archbishop Sahag has been a path of endless dedication, tireless work, spiritual care and fatherly love.

He briefly touched upon the Bishop’s educational achievements, calling them a spiritual and intellectual value that raises the pride of all.

His Holiness made a speech, expressing his emotional feelings about the honor bestowed upon him and the previous words.

He characterized the meaning of twenty years of service with the following words: “Anniversaries invite us to appreciate the passing years, but we should not limit ourselves to appreciating and valuing the past.

Therefore, anniversaries are an opportunity to shape future service with commitment and dedication in the light of the past.

Five of the past 20 years have passed within the Armenian Diocese of Greece.
