I find it difficult to understand what has improved: agricultural expert's response to Papoyan

The situation in the agricultural sector, both in terms of production, sales, and especially export, cannot be described as “good” in any way.

Candidate of Economics, agricultural expert Vardan Aleksanyan said in an interview with Sputnik Armenia, commenting on yesterday’s statement by the Minister of Economy.

On October 7, Gevorg Papoyan stated in the National Assembly that in fact we have a situation when all of Armenia’s agricultural products are either stored, exported, or sold on the local market.

Հոկտեմբերի 7-ին ԱԺ–ում Գևորգ Պապոյանը հայտարարեց, որ փաստացի ունենք իրավիճակ, երբ ՀՀ ամբողջ գյուղմթերքը կա՛մ մթերված է, կա՛մ արտահանված է, կա՛մ տեղական շուկայում իրացված է։

According to Vardan Aleksanyan, however, the trends of recent years, including official statistics, only record a decline in the sector.

Aleksanyan notes that about 80-90% of Armenia's agricultural products, and in the case of individual products, even 100%, before the restrictions imposed by the Russian Federation, were always exported to the EAEU, in particular to the Russian Federation.

No new data on export volumes and directions have been published, therefore, the information published by the minister, according to him, still needs to be substantiated with official figures.

"The direction of the Russian Federation for the export of agricultural products has been and remains the most effective and most expedient direction.

And we all see that there are problems in the agricultural sector.

It should be noted that after May 2026, when Russia limited the import of certain types of agricultural products from Armenia, the EU established temporary (for 2 years) trade privileges and exceptions for the import of Armenian agricultural products.
