The share of breast cancer detection in the 4th stage in Armenia has significantly decreased.

This was stated by Haykuhi Geokchyan, Advisor on Oncology of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Armenia, at a press conference.

According to her, in 2018 this indicator reached 40%, but in 2025-2026.

Geokchyan noted that one of the factors was the expansion of state programs, thanks to which more women were able to be involved in the research.

As a result, the number of patients has increased, and the diseases began to be detected more often in the first, second and third stages.

Alina Chobanyan-Hovhannisyan Geokchyan also emphasized that the quality of treatment of the disease has improved.

Among the drugs, Geokchyan separately mentioned trastuzumab, which is a targeted therapy drug and is a monoclonal antibody.

He emphasized that thanks to this drug, 1,500 women have not had their cancer reach stage 4 today.

It should be noted that 1,600 cases of breast cancer are detected in Armenia every year.
