The thesis that the Interuniversity Council called 'terrorist propaganda' has turned into a case under Article 301 of the Turkish Penal Code.

The first hearing in the trial of sociologist Güllistan Yarkın, who is being prosecuted under Article 301 of the Turkish Penal Code for her doctoral thesis completed at Binghamton University, will be held tomorrow in Ankara.

Sosyolog Güllistan Yarkın’ın Binghamton Üniversitesi’nde tamamladığı doktora tezi nedeniyle TCK 301 kapsamında yargılanacağı davanın ilk duruşması yarın Ankara'da görülecek.

The indictment cites 29 passages from the thesis as the basis for the charges, four of which relate to the Armenian Genocide and historical violence against Armenians.

İddianamede tezden 29 pasaj suçlamaya dayanak gösterilirken, bunların dördü Ermeni Soykırımı ve Ermenilere yönelik tarihsel şiddetle ilgili.

Speaking to Agos, Yarkın says, "The state wants to control the information production process."

Agos'a konuşan Yarkın, “Devlet bilgi üretim sürecini kontrol etmek istiyor” diyor.
