The Armenian Residents Union of Hadjin will hold its traditional Madagh - 4/10

The day will begin with Holy Mass at St. Gregory the Illuminator Cathedral and will continue, starting at 1:00 PM, at the Armenian House of Hadjin Dun, located at 2273 Scalabrini Ortiz Avenue, in the City of Buenos Aires.

La jornada comenzará con la Santa Misa en la Catedral San Gregorio el Iluminador y continuará, desde las 13, en la Casa Armenia de Hadjin Dun, ubicada en avenida Scalabrini Ortiz 2273, en la Ciudad de Buenos Aires.

The event was organized by the institution's Board of Directors as a gathering for remembrance and community participation in honor of those who led the defense of Hadjin.

La actividad fue convocada por la Comisión Directiva de la institución como un encuentro de memoria y participación comunitaria en homenaje a quienes protagonizaron la defensa de Hadjin.

The Armenian Residents' Union of Hadjin thus maintains one of its traditional celebrations, linked to historical memory and the transmission of this legacy to new generations.

The self-defense of Hadjin unfolded between March and October 1920, when some 600 Armenian fighters withstood an eight-month siege by Turkish nationalist forces. The city, in Cilicia, had once again received thousands of survivors of the Genocide after 1918. Without sufficient outside help and with ammunition running low, Hadjin fell on October 15, 1920; much of its Armenian population was killed, and only a few hundred managed to escape.

La autodefensa de Hadjin se desarrolló entre marzo y octubre de 1920, cuando unos 600 combatientes armenios resistieron durante ocho meses el sitio de las fuerzas nacionalistas turcas. La ciudad, en Cilicia, había recibido nuevamente a miles de sobrevivientes del Genocidio después de 1918. Sin ayuda exterior suficiente y con las municiones agotadas, Hadjin cayó el 15 de octubre de 1920; gran parte de su población armenia fue asesinada y sólo unos pocos centenares lograron escapar.
