PACE Points Out Electoral Violations and Proposes Reforms to the Electoral Code

The report criticized the Central Election Commission’s decision to annul the results of some polling stations without sufficient justification and without organizing a repeat vote, which observers said affected the election results and parliamentary representation. As a result, some opposition forces were excluded from the National Assembly, while the ruling majority strengthened its position.

At the same time, PACE has proposed reforming the electoral code by providing for clear mechanisms for repeat voting, expanding the scope of those entitled to appeal to the courts on electoral disputes, and extending the deadlines for appeals. Observers have also stressed the need to strengthen the independence of electoral commissions, limit administrative influence, ensure transparency in funding, and ensure the impartiality of the media.
