The Municipality of Alexandroupolis honored the 35th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Armenia

In a remarkable ceremony, on the morning of Saturday, September 26, 2026, the Armenian flag was raised in front of the Municipality building, in an atmosphere of joy and pride.

­Յատ­կան­շա­կան ա­րա­րո­ղու­թեամբ, ­Շա­բաթ, 26 ­Սեպ­տեմ­բեր 2026-ի ա­ռա­ւօ­տուն, ­Հա­յաս­տա­նի դրօ­շը ծա­ծա­նեց քա­ղա­քա­պե­տա­րա­նի շէն­քին առ­ջեւ, յու­զու­մի եւ հպար­տու­թեան մթնո­լոր­տին մէջ։

As is known, a significant number of Armenians live in the city, who have been part of local life for many decades, and after Armenia’s independence, many compatriots from Armenia have settled in the region.

Ինչ­պէս ծա­նօթ է, քա­ղա­քին մէջ կ­՚ապ­րի հա­յու­թեան կա­րե­ւոր թիւ մը, որ եր­կար տաս­նա­մեակ­նե­րու վրայ մաս կազ­մած է տե­ղա­կան կեան­քին, իսկ ­Հա­յաս­տա­նի ան­կա­խա­ցու­մէն ետք, բազ­մա­թիւ հայ­րե­նա­կից­ներ ­Հա­յաս­տա­նէն կայք հաս­տա­տած են շրջա­նը։

The ties of the Armenians with the local state and municipal structures have been more than friendly, always within the framework of a cooperative spirit and with expressions of mutual respect.

Հա­յու­թեան կա­պե­րը տե­ղա­կան պե­տա­կան եւ քա­ղա­քա­պե­տա­կան կա­ռոյց­նե­րուն հետ ե­ղած են ա­ւե­լի քան սի­րա­լիր, միշտ գոր­ծակ­ցա­կան ո­գիի շրջա­գի­ծէն ներս եւ փո­խա­դարձ յար­գան­քի ար­տա­յայ­տու­թիւն­նե­րով։

In this context, the municipality decided to honor an important part of the city's population and illuminate the Armenian Tricolor, paying its noblest tribute to the brotherly Armenian people and Armenia.

Այս ի­րա­կա­նու­թեան տակ, քա­ղա­քա­պե­տա­րա­նը ո­րո­շեց յար­գել քա­ղա­քի բնակ­չու­թեան կա­րե­ւոր մէկ մա­սը եւ պար­զել հայ­կա­կան Ե­ռա­գոյ­նը, իր ազ­նո­ւա­գոյն տուր­քը մա­տու­ցե­լով եղ­բայ­րա­կան հայ ժո­ղո­վուր­դին եւ ­Հա­յաս­տա­նին։

On Saturday, a large number of compatriots, members of the district council and the municipal council attended the ceremony.

­Շա­բաթ օր, մեծ թի­ւով հայ­րե­նա­կից­ներ, շրջա­նի թա­ղա­յին խոր­հուր­դը եւ քա­ղա­քա­պե­տա­կան խոր­հուր­դի ան­դամ­ներ ներ­կայ ե­ղան ա­րա­րո­ղու­թեան։

The presence of the younger generation was notable, who gave a special shine to the exceptional moment with tricolor flags.

­Յատ­կան­շա­կան էր փոքր սե­րուն­դի ներ­կա­յու­թիւ­նը, որ ե­ռա­գոյն դրօ­շակ­նե­րով յա­տուկ փայլ մը տո­ւաւ բա­ցա­ռիկ պա­հուն։

Honorary Consul Sarkis Tankazyan jointly raised the flag, and the people present sang the Armenian anthem with emotion.

It should also be noted that on the occasion of the independence of the Republic of Armenia, the municipality of Alexandroupolis had the beautiful idea of illuminating its building with the colors of the Armenian flag.

­Պէտք է նաեւ նշել, թէ ­Հա­յաս­տա­նի ­Հան­րա­պե­տու­թեան վե­րան­կա­խաց­ման ա­ռի­թով, Ա­լեք­սանտ­րու­պոլ­սոյ քա­ղա­քա­պե­տա­րա­նը գե­ղե­ցիկ յղա­ցու­մը ու­նե­ցաւ իր շէն­քը լու­սա­ւո­րե­լու հայ­կա­կան դրօ­շի գոյ­նե­րով։

The scene created was not only moving for the Armenians, but was also warmly appreciated and respected by the Greek population of the city.

Ս­տեղ­ծո­ւած տե­սա­րա­նը ոչ միայն յու­զիչ էր հա­յու­թեան հա­մար, այ­լեւ ջեր­մօ­րէն գնա­հա­տո­ւե­ցաւ ու յար­գո­ւե­ցաւ քա­ղա­քի յոյն բնակ­չու­թեան կող­մէ։
