Flydubai plane incident was a terrorist attack: UAE Attorney General

The UAE's attorney general has said that the incident on board a Flydubai airliner was an attempted terrorist attack. According to him, the co-pilot attacked the captain with an axe in an attempt to take control of the plane.

On September 30, a Flydubai plane flying from Dubai to Tel Aviv made an emergency landing in Saudi Arabia after the co-pilot injured the captain. Initially, media reports said the pilots were Russian and Ukrainian, but later it was revealed that they were Omani and Indian.

ABC News reported that the attacker may be Hamam al-Hammami, a 29-year-old Omani citizen. In 2024, extremist materials were found on him and he was suspended from flying for a year, after which he continued to work at Oman Air in an administrative position.
