7 defendants in the case of an incident involving investigators and a police officer in Malatia-Sebastia

"Based on the combination of factual data obtained during the preliminary investigation of the criminal proceedings conducted by the Anti-Corruption Committee, on August 20, 2026, at around 09:00, during an argument over parking a car, criminal prosecution was initiated against two investigators of the same investigative department under Article 195, Part 2, Point 5 of the Criminal Code of the RA for striking (beating) a citizen living next door to the investigative department of the Malatia-Sebastia administrative district of the RA Investigative Committee.

«Հակակոռուպցիոն կոմիտեում իրականացվող քրեական վարույթի նախաքննության ընթացքում ձեռք բերված փաստական տվյալների համակցության հիման վրա 2026 թվականի օգոստոսի 20-ին՝ ժամը 09:00-ի սահմաններում, ավտոմեքենան կայանելու հարցի շուրջ ծագած վիճաբանության ընթացքում ՀՀ քննչական կոմիտեի Մալաթիա-Սեբաստիա վարչական շրջանի քննչական բաժնի հարևանությամբ բնակվող քաղաքացուն հարվածներ հասցնելու (ծեծի ենթարկելու) համար նույն քննչական բաժնի երկու քննիչների նկատմամբ քրեական հետապնդում է հարուցվել ՀՀ քրեական օրենսգրքի 195-րդ հոդվածի 2-րդ մասի 5-րդ կետով:

On the same day, at around 23:30, a meeting held by a relative of the aforementioned citizen, a police officer, with the intention of obtaining clarifications from the investigators, escalated into hooliganism, in connection with which a public criminal prosecution was initiated against the police officer and four persons with him under Article 297, Part 2, Point 1 of the Criminal Code of the RA.

Նույն օրը՝ ժամը 23:30-ի սահմաններում, հիշյալ քաղաքացուն ծեծի ենթարկելու առիթով վերջինիս ազգականի՝ ոստիկանության ծառայողի կողմից քննիչներից պարզաբանումներ ստանալու նատակով կայացած հանդիպումը վերաճել է խուլիգանության, որի կապակցությամբ ոստիկանության ծառայողի և նրա հետ գտնված չորս անձի նկատմամբ հանրային քրեական հետապնդում է հարուցվել ՀՀ քրեական օրենսգրքի 297-րդ հոդվածի 2-րդ մասի 1-ին կետով:

The preliminary investigation into the cases of apparent crimes of torture of a police officer by officials, as well as causing serious bodily harm to the health of one of the investigators, continues.

A ban on absence from the Republic of Armenia has been imposed on all 7 defendants as a preventive measure,” the statement says.
