US ready for talks with Iran at UN General Assembly: Rubio

The Secretary of State was asked about his willingness to meet with Iranian officials.

“The (US) president has said he is ready to meet with anyone. He is a president who, as a rule, is ready to meet with anyone because he believes that engaging with people is important to solving problems. That doesn’t mean you’re going to agree with them, but it is important. So we are ready for that. I don’t think anything is planned at this point, but we are certainly open to something like that, especially if it can lead to something positive and ultimately to the goal that this is all being done for. "Iran should never have nuclear weapons," the Secretary of State noted.
