The Democrats have won the Senate and the House in US midterm elections, taking control of Congress for the rest of Donald Trump’s presidency. US President Donald Trump said the Democrats “did a good job” – and acknowledgeed that the Iran war, and higher fuel prices, played a part in the defeat. In the Senate race, Democrats picked up a string of victories in Republican strongholds, including Texas, Ohio, and Kansas – which last elected a Democrat almost 100 years ago. With control of Congress, Democrats will be able to frustrate President Trump’s plans for the next two years.
