YEREVAN — For some people, running a marathon is a personal challenge. For Sargis Meliksetyan, running 42.195 kilometers through the streets of New York carries a much deeper meaning: it is a way to honor his brother Vahe, keep his memory alive, and fulfill a dream that Vahe never had the chance to accomplish. Sargis Meliksetyan’s identification tag for the NYC Marathon Tomorrow, on November 1, Sargis will join thousands of runners at the starting line of the TCS New York City Marathon, one of the world’s most renowned sporting events. Every kilometer he runs will carry a personal story of brotherhood, remembrance, and a commitment to making a difference. But this journey is about more than reaching the finish line. Sargis is turning his marathon into a fundraising initiative in support of the Vahe Meliksetyan Foundation, established in memory of his brother. The campaign aims to support the professional development of clinical pharmacists in Armenia, including opportunities for international training and professional education. “Running these 42 kilometers is my way of continuing Vahe’s dream. I want every step to have a purpose beyond myself — to help create opportunities for young professionals and contribute to the development of clinical pharmacy in Armenia,” says Sargis Meliksetyan. The foundation was established to carry forward Vahe’s legacy and advance clinical pharmacy and safer, evidence-based healthcare in Armenia. Through educational programs, scholarships, professional initiatives, and support for young specialists, the foundation works to strengthen the role of clinical pharmacists in the healthcare system. The fundraising campaign has already received the support of Freedom Broker Armenia, adidas, and Joy, which have sponsored the first three kilometers of Sargis’s marathon journey. The remaining kilometers are open for sponsorship, inviting individuals, companies, and organizations to become part of this meaningful initiative.
