Mass protests continue in Azerbaijan against the ban on wearing the hijab in schools

In late September, new school uniform rules were approved in Azerbaijan, which, among other provisions, prohibit “elements that do not meet the principle of secularism.”

Soon, inspections began in schools, and schoolgirls wearing the hijab began to be expelled from classes.

Protests have broken out in Baku and other cities across the country, during which schoolgirls demanded that everyone’s right to education be ensured.
