The European Union's foreign ministers have formally approved a package of nearly 1,600 new sanctions targeting Russia's military-industrial complex.
The EU's foreign policy chief, Kaia Kallas, said more than half of the restrictions would target the production chain of ballistic missiles.
The decision came after a phone call between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, during which an agreement was reached on the supply of Russian diesel fuel.
Kallas stressed that Europe does not intend to ease pressure on Moscow, as the imposition of fuel restrictions would give Russia additional resources to continue the war.
