European Parliament demands Baku to immediately release Armenian captives and political prisoners

“The European Parliament reiterates its deep concern at the continued detention of Armenian political prisoners and prisoners of war in Azerbaijan, including former high-ranking representatives of Nagorno-Karabakh, and calls for their immediate and unconditional release and respect for their fundamental rights,” the resolution says.

«Եվրոպական խորհրդարանը կրկին իր խոր մտահոգությունն է հայտնում Ադրբեջանում հայ քաղբանտարկյալների և ռազմագերիների, այդ թվում՝ Լեռնային Ղարաբաղի նախկին բարձրաստիճան ներկայացուցիչների շարունակվող կալանավորման կապակցությամբ, կոչ է անում անհապաղ և անվերապահորեն ազատ արձակել նրանց և հարգել նրանց հիմնարար իրավունքները»,-ասված է բանաձևում։

The resolution was adopted by 492 votes to 23.

The provisions on Armenian prisoners of war were included in the final text thanks to the efforts of the resolution’s co-author, French MEP Marina Mezure.

Հայ գերիների վերաբերյալ դրույթները վերջնական տեքստում ներառվել են բանաձևի համահեղինակ, Եվրախորհրդարանի ֆրանսիացի պատգամավոր Մարինա Մեզյուրի ջանքերի շնորհիվ։

After the vote, Mezure strongly criticized the European Union for not backing up its repeated condemnations of Azerbaijan with concrete actions.

Քվեարկությունից հետո Մեզյուրը խիստ քննադատել է Եվրամիությանը՝ Ադրբեջանին ուղղված իր բազմակի դատապարտումները կոնկրետ գործողություններով չամրապնդելու համար։

He warned that the EU's credibility is at stake, and called on the EU leadership to strictly condition all relations with Baku on the protection of human rights.

Նա զգուշացրել է, որ վտանգված է ԵՄ-ի վստահելիությունը, և կոչ արել Եվրամիության ղեկավարությանը Բաքվի հետ բոլոր հարաբերությունները խստորեն պայմանավորել մարդու իրավունքների պահպանմամբ։
