Prosecution will be initiated against Hayk Sargsyan, who was expelled from the party – media

Criminal charges will be brought against Hayk Sargsyan, a former ally of the prime minister and expelled from the ruling Civil Contract party, the Hraparak newspaper reported.

Sargsyan was expelled from the party on October 6 following a controversial interview in which he accused his fellow party members of being "blinded by power."

Subsequently, media outlets, citing their sources, reported that a case had been opened against him for driving with unregistered license plates.

The former MP did not deny this information.

The publication writes that the decision to expel him from the party was made unanimously, although he came to the meeting prepared, with a thick folder of arguments.

He again attempted to voice the accusations against his fellow party members that he had previously raised in interviews, but this did not sway Nikol Pashinyan's resolve.

In one of his interviews, Sargsyan stated that, while a member of the party's board, he made a critical statement about a number of problems in the country, including illegal logging.
