Australian Armenians call on Switzerland to appeal European Court ruling on Armenian Genocide denial

Ավստրալահայերը Շվեյցարիային կոչ են արել բողոքարկել Հայոց ցեղասպանության ժխտման վերաբերյալ Եվրադատարանի որոշումը

Representatives of the Armenian National Committee of Australia met with the Swiss Ambassador to the country, Marcel Stutz, to express the concerns of the Australian Armenian community regarding the recent ruling of the ECHR in the case of Turkish Genocide denier Doğu Perincek.

Australian Armenians call on Switzerland to appeal European Court ruling on Armenian Genocide denial

Representatives of the Armenian National Committee of Australia presented the Swiss Ambassador with a list of factual inaccuracies that were evident in the ECHR ruling, as well as calling on the Swiss government to appeal the ruling. “Switzerland is an international leader in genocide denial and criminalization, which is why we call on the Swiss authorities to appeal the ECHR ruling,” said Vache Ghahramanyan, Executive Director of the Armenian National Committee of Australia, summarizing the results of the meeting.

Ավստրալիայի Հայ դատի գրասենյակի ներկայացուցիչները Շվեյցարիայի դեսպանին են ներկայացրել փաստացի անճշտությունների ցուցակը, որոնք ակնհայտ էին ՄԻԵԴ-ի դատավճռում, ինչպես նաեւ Շվեյցարիայի կառավարությանը կոչ էին արել բողոքարկել այդ վճիռը: «Շվեյցարիան ցեղասպանությունների ժխտման եւ ժխտումը քրեականացնող միջազգային առաջատար է, այդ պատճառով էլ մենք Շվեյցարիայի իշխանություններին կոչ ենք անում բողոքարկել ՄԻԵԴ-ի վճիռը»,– հանդիպման արդյունքներն ամփոփելով նշել է Ավստրալիայի Հայ դատի գրասենյակի գործադիր տնօրեն Վաչե Ղահրամանյանը:

It should be recalled that the ECHR had upheld the claim of Turkish activist Doğu Perincek against Switzerland, basing it on the principle of freedom of expression. Perincek, the leader of the Turkish Workers' Party, was convicted in Switzerland in 2008 for publicly denying the Armenian Genocide.

Հիշեցնենք, որ ՄԻԵԴ-ը բավարարել էր թուրք գործիչ Դողու Փերինչեքի հայցը Շվեյցարիայի դեմ՝ այն հիմնավորելով խոսքի ազատության սկզբունքով: Թուրքիայի Բանվորական կուսակցության առաջնորդ Փերինչեքը 2008թ. Շվերյցարիայում դատապարտվել էր Հայոց ցեղասպանությունը հրապարակավ ժխտելու համար:
