“He gave testimony, as far as I know, he is currently undergoing treatment, he was wounded and will give more testimony,” Khachatryan said.

The press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Azerbaijan reported that there are reasonable suspicions that Nasimi Musayev voluntarily left the military unit, that is, he is a deserter, and a criminal case has been initiated. The parliamentary opposition, meanwhile, does not rule out the sabotage version.

“It is very likely that he is a saboteur and has infiltrated the territory of the Republic of Armenia to carry out some specific actions, and now Azerbaijan is simply trying to, so to speak, cover up his tracks,” believes Agnesa Khamoyan, a deputy from the opposition “Armenia” faction.

Garnik Davtyan, a deputy from the “Strong Armenia” faction, also does not rule out the sabotage hypothesis. He also considers the possibility of Musayev’s extradition to be worrying.

KP deputy Armen Khachatryan, meanwhile, rules out the sabotage hypothesis.

“Should an ordinary soldier be sent to cross the border, come and do some sabotage? Of course, that is nonsense. I must say that such cases have happened and will continue to happen. Border violations have always existed and have existed since the Soviet Union,” says Khachatryan.

Will the current government discuss with Baku the issue of exchanging Musayev for prisoners? Armen Khachatryan considers it premature to discuss this at this time.

After that process, however, Khachatryan does not rule out the option of exchanging prisoners.

Agnesa Khamoyan also believes that the Azerbaijani serviceman should first be brought to criminal responsibility, and then the issue of exchanging prisoners should be discussed, although the opposition MP is not optimistic on this issue. She emphasizes that it is unacceptable to return the Azerbaijani without any conditions.

“No matter how much they try to convince that talking is not the best option for returning the prisoners, on the other hand, there is no visible work in that direction,” Khamoyan believes.

«Որքան էլ փորձում են համոզել, որ խոսելը լավագույն տարբերակը չէ գերիներին վերադարձնելու, բայց մյուս կողմից՝ նաև տեսանելի աշխատանք չի երևում այդ ուղղությամբ»,- կարծում է Խամոյանը:

According to Garnik Davtyan, the faction does not have a clear position on the possible exchange of prisoners at the moment.

More than 3 years ago, Azerbaijani servicemen Agshin Babirov and Hussein Akhundov crossed the state border of the Republic of Armenia from the Nakhichevan side. On April 12, Akhundov killed Hayrapet Meliksetyan, a security guard at the Zangezur Copper and Molybdenum Combine, near the village of Shgharshik in Kapan. Akhundov was first sentenced to 20 years in prison in Armenia, then the sentence was toughened: he was sentenced to life imprisonment. In December, an exchange process took place. Azerbaijan transferred 32 Armenian servicemen to Armenia, and Armenia transferred Akhundov and Babirov. The Azerbaijani side presented this as a manifestation of humanity and goodwill.
