There are no US ships in the Persian Gulf or Strait of Hormuz: IRGC advisor

The head of the advisory group to the IRGC’s commander-in-chief, General Ali Fadavi, said in a television interview that the Strait of Hormuz has been under full Iranian control in recent months, the IRNA news agency reported.

According to him, the US has had a military presence in the Persian Gulf since 1853, but now, for the first time, there are no American ships in those areas.

“The Americans have fled and moved more than a thousand kilometers away from our borders,” Fadavi said, adding that “this did not happen of their own free will, but is the result of the power of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the IRGC’s naval forces.”

He noted that the Americans claim that they can transport a maximum of 3-4 million barrels of oil per day through the southern part of the Strait of Hormuz, outside the zone officially designated by Iran. However, Fadavi considered this volume insignificant compared to the amount of oil that usually passes through the strait.

He explained that previously more than 20 million barrels of oil passed through the Strait of Hormuz daily through official channels, and additional volumes were exported unofficially.

Նա պարզաբանել է, որ նախկինում Հորմուզի նեղուցով պաշտոնական ուղիներով օրական անցնում էր ավելի քան 20 միլիոն բարել նավթ, իսկ լրացուցիչ ծավալներ արտահանվում էին ոչ պաշտոնական եղանակով։

Fadavi added that US ships are “open and vulnerable” to the IRGC naval forces. According to him, US forces have repeatedly tried to enter their warships into the Strait of Hormuz, but have been attacked by the IRGC naval and aerospace forces.

“Any escalation of tensions will undoubtedly harm them,” Fadavi said.
