Shaki incident should be recorded as criminal inaction of law enforcement agencies: MP

The fact that an Azerbaijani soldier crossed into the territory of Armenia and was discovered only after the incident with a resident of Shaki should be considered as a criminal inaction of state departments and law enforcement agencies.

Արբեջանցի զինծառայողի՝ ՀՀ տարածք անցնելու և միայն Շաքիի բնակչուհու հետ տեղի ունեցած միջադեպից հետո հայտնաբերվելու հանգամանքը պետք է դիտարկել որպես պետական գերատեսչությունների և ուժային կառույցների հանցավոր անգործություն։

Anna Grigoryan, head of the "Armenia" faction of the RA NA, said this during a press conference.

According to the MP, the resident of Shaki was forced to protect herself and her children on her own, while ensuring the security of citizens is one of the state's primary functions.

Պատգամավորի խոսքով՝ Շաքիի բնակչուհին ստիպված է եղել ինքնուրույն պաշտպանել իրեն և երեխաներին, մինչդեռ քաղաքացիների անվտանգության ապահովումը պետության առաջնային գործառույթներից է։

Grigoryan also recalled the case of two Azerbaijani soldiers who infiltrated Armenia in 2023, emphasizing that one of them was also discovered by citizens.

Գրիգորյանը հիշեցրեց նաև 2023 թվականին Հայաստան ներթափանցած երկու ադրբեջանցի զինծառայողների դեպքը՝ ընդգծելով, որ նրանցից մեկին նույնպես հայտնաբերել էին քաղաքացիները։

The opposition MP also raised a question about how the Azerbaijani soldier managed to cross the border and whether the relevant section had the necessary equipment and control.

“It’s time for their statements to be tested in practice, they fail that test, that examination,” Grigoryan continued.

According to Grigoryan, the Azerbaijani side had previously informed the soldier about his crossing into Armenian territory, but they could not find him for two days.

Գրիգորյանի պնդմամբ՝ ադրբեջանական կողմը նախապես տեղեկացրել էր զինծառայողի՝ Հայաստանի տարածք անցնելու մասին, սակայն նրան երկու օր շարունակ չէին կարողացել գտնել։

The MP assumes that the full potential was not involved in the search operations in order not to create a big fuss around the incident.
