The so-called "Zangezur Corridor" is currently not being discussed.

The so-called “Zangezur Corridor” is not currently under discussion; the issue has been resolved for now, according to the Iranian ambassador to Armenia. The TRIPP project currently under discussion does not fully reflect the goals and objectives set by Ankara and Baku, Khalil Shirgolami said at a conference, referring to the extraterritorial corridor that Turkey and Azerbaijan have been pushing for.

“What we are currently seeing at the negotiating table and what our Armenian colleagues are talking about implies preserving the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Armenia,” the diplomat added.

The TRIPP project (Trump’s Path to International Peace and Prosperity) envisages the creation of a strategic transit corridor through Armenia’s Syunik province. It is emphasized that it will operate exclusively under Armenian jurisdiction and will not affect the country’s sovereignty. According to the project, Armenia will grant the United States exclusive long-term rights for up to 99 years to develop the route, which Azerbaijan hopes to use to establish a land connection with Nakhchivan. It envisages the creation of a company with a majority US share, with Armenia having oversight mechanisms on key issues. In the first phase, the US is offered a 74% stake, while Armenia is offered a 26% stake, with the option of increasing Armenia’s share to 49% upon renewal of the agreement.

On May 26, during a brief visit by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio to Yerevan, Armenia and the United States initialled the aforementioned framework agreement and signed it in early June.
