Nikol Pashinyan hosted Paula White-Kane, Senior Advisor to the White House Office of Faith Affairs, at the government today. She was invited to participate in the Prayer Breakfast in Armenia. Issues of cooperation were discussed, and in that context, the White House representative made the following statement: “Ms. White-Kane noted that they are interested in closely cooperating with both the Government of the Republic of Armenia and the Armenian spiritual leaders of the United States.”

Նիկոլ Փաշինյանն այսօր կառավարությունում հյուրընկալել է Սպիտակ տան Հավատքի հարցերի գրասենյակի ավագ խորհրդական Փոլա Ուայթ–Քեյնին։ Նրան հրավիրել են՝ մասնակցելու Հայաստանում Աղոթքի նախաճաշին։ Քննարկվել են գործակցության հարցեր, եւ այդ համատեքստում Սպիտակ տան ներկայացուցիչն արել է հետեւյալ մի հայտարարություն․ «Տիկին Ուայթ-Քեյնը նշել է, որ շահագրգիռ են սերտորեն համագործակցել ինչպես ՀՀ Կառավարության, այնպես էլ ԱՄՆ-ի հայ հոգևոր առաջնորդների հետ»։

And where is the Armenian Apostolic Church for the Senior Advisor to the White House Office of Faith Affairs? What does working with Armenian spiritual leaders in the United States mean? Who are they? High-ranking clergy of the Armenian Apostolic Church dioceses, or representatives of other Armenian religious structures. If the leaders of the dioceses are among them, will the work involve bringing them to Nikol Pashinyan’s agenda, that is, turning them against the Mother See? These, I think, are well-founded questions when an American official speaks of a willingness to work closely, dealing with issues of faith, but does not mention the Armenian Apostolic Church among his partners.

Իսկ ո՞ւր է Հայ Առաքելական եկեղեցին՝ Սպիտակ տան Հավատքի հարցերի գրասենյակի ավագ խորհրդականի համար։ Ի՞նչ է նշնակում ԱՄՆ հայ հոգեւոր առաջնորդների հետ աշխատանք։ Ովքե՞ր են նրանք։ ՀԱԵ թեմերի՞ բարձրաստիճան հոգեւորականները, թե նաեւ այլ կրոնական հայկական կառույցների ներկայացուցիչներ։ Եթե թեմերի առաջնորդները այդ շարքում են, արդյո՞ք աշխատանքը ենթադրելու է նրանց` Նիկոլ Փաշինյանի օրակարգ բերելը, այսինքն` Մայր Աթոռի դեմ տրամադրլը։ Սրանք, կարծում եմ, հիմք ունեցող հարցեր են, երբ ամերիկացի պաշտոնյան խոսում է սերտ աշխատանքի պատրաստակամության մասին՝ զբաղվեlով Հավատքի հարցերով, բայց գործընկերների շարքում չի նշում ՀԱԵ–ն։

And in that sense, it is also interesting whether he will visit the Mother See and meet with the Catholicos of All Armenians during his stay in Armenia.

Եվ այդ իմաստով նաեւ հետաքրքիր է, թե նա արդյո՞ք Հայաստանում գտնվելու ընթացքում կայցելի Մայր Աթոռ եւ հանդիպում կունենա Ամենայն Հայոց Կաթողիկոսի հետ։

Paula White-Kane’s visit to Armenia was actually prepared in early September through her contact with the Armenian Ambassador to the United States, Narek Mkrtchyan. I had touched upon this, drawing attention to this circumstance, although the report about it did not indicate that White-Kane’s visit to Armenia was to take place.

Փոլա Ուայթ–Քեյնի հայաստանյան այցը փաստորեն նախապատրաստվել է սեպտեմբերի սկզբին նրա հետ ԱՄՆ–ում Հայաստանի դեսպան Նարեկ Մկրտչյանի շփումով։ Ես անդրադարձել էի դրան` ուշադրություն հրավիրելով այդ հանգամանքի վրա, թեեւ դրա մասին հաղորդագրությունը չէր հայտնում, որ կրող է տեղի ունենալ Ուայթ–Քեյնի այց Հայաստան։

At the same time, a very important, perhaps key circumstance is that White-Kane has close ties with the Christian-Zionist community in the United States, and is, by and large, their key representative in the White House.

Միաժամանակ, շատ կարեւոր, թերեւս առանցքային հանգամանք է այն, որ Ուայթ–Քեյնը ունի սերտ կապեր ԱՄՆ քրիստոնյա–սիոնիստների համայնքի հետ, եւ մեծ հաշվով Սպիտակ տանը նրանց առանցքային ներկայացուցիչ է։
