Some dreams are born in childhood and silently mature for decades before taking shape. This is precisely the story of an exceptional project that recently united Geneva and Yerevan around the musical legacy of the great Armenian composer Aram Khachaturian.

When she was only two years old, Eva Haroutunian received a gift as precious as it was unexpected: a copy of the "Children's Album," a collection of piano pieces given to her personally by its author, Aram Khachaturian himself. Too young to grasp the significance of this historic moment, she nevertheless cherished this foundational memory. The composer had given her a simple yet inspiring message: in a few years, she should begin to play these works. Her wish was quickly fulfilled. Two years later, the young musician began her artistic journey at the Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky Specialized Music School in Yerevan, where her vocation as a pianist began.

Alors quelle nétait âgée que de deux ans, Eva Haroutunian reçut un cadeau aussi précieux quinattendu: un exemplaire de l«Album pour enfants», recueil de pièces pour piano offert personnellement par son auteur, Aram Khatchatourian lui-même. Trop jeune pour mesurer la portée de cet instant historique, elle conserva néanmoins ce souvenir fondateur. Le compositeur lui avait alors adressé un message simple mais inspirant: dans quelques années, elle devrait commencer à jouer ces œuvres. Son souhait se réalisa rapidement. Deux ans plus tard, la jeune musicienne entamait son parcours artistique à lÉcole spécialisée de musique Piotr Ilitch Tchaïkovski dErevan, où débuta sa vocation de pianiste.

Over the years, her destiny and her quest for musical excellence led her to Geneva. Having become director of the Geneva Conservatory, she had long cherished a deeply held dream: to unite the young talents of her alma mater with the musicians of the Geneva Conservatory in a single orchestra, to perform the works of the Armenian master together.

Au fil des années, son destin et sa quête dexcellence musicale la conduisirent à Genève. Devenue directrice du Conservatoire de Genève, elle nourrissait depuis longtemps un rêve profondément ancré dans son cœur: réunir les jeunes talents de son école dorigine avec les musiciens du Conservatoire de Genève au sein dun même orchestre, afin dinterpréter ensemble les œuvres du maître arménien.

At the opening of the concert, visibly moved, Eva Haroutunian shared this childhood dream come true, movingly recalling the journey she had undertaken since that unforgettable encounter with Aram Khachaturian.

Lors de louverture du concert, visiblement émue, Eva Haroutunian partagea ce rêve de jeunesse devenu réalité, évoquant avec émotion le chemin parcouru depuis cette rencontre inoubliable avec Aram Khatchatourian.

Today, this project has become a magnificent reality. Thirty young musicians from the P. I. Tchaikovsky School of Music in Yerevan, under the artistic and musical direction of David Maroukhian, collaborated with the CMGO Orchestra of the Geneva Conservatory, composed of current students, alumni, and faculty members.

Aujourdhui, ce projet est devenu une magnifique réalité. Trente jeunes musiciens de lÉcole de musique P. I. Tchaïkovski dErevan, sous la direction artistique et musicale de David Maroukhian, ont collaboré avec lorchestre CMGO du Conservatoire de Genève, composé détudiants actuels, danciens élèves et de membres du corps professoral.

The concert was conducted by the internationally renowned conductor Christian Vásquez, who led this musical encounter with talent and inspiration.

After five days of intensive work, rehearsals, and artistic exchanges, the highly anticipated concert took place on June 20th in Geneva's prestigious Victoria Hall.

Après cinq jours de travail intensif, de répétitions et déchanges artistiques, le concert tant attendu sest tenu le 20 juin dans le prestigieux Victoria Hall de Genève.

The program featured Aram Khachaturian's celebrated Violin Concerto, performed by the brilliant Armenian virtuoso violinist Diana Adamyan, as well as excerpts from the ballets Spartacus and Gayaneh. The emotional power of Armenian music deeply moved the Swiss audience, transporting them to a musical world of remarkable richness and intensity.

Le programme mettait à lhonneur le célèbre Concerto de violon dAram Khatchatourian, interprété par la brillante violoniste virtuose arménienne Diana Adamyan, ainsi que des extraits des ballets Spartacus et Gayaneh. La puissance émotionnelle de la musique arménienne a profondément touché le public suisse, transporté dans un univers musical dune richesse et dune intensité remarquables.

The day before this grand concert at Victoria Hall, the young musicians of the P. I. Tchaikovsky Music School in Yerevan, under the direction of David Maroukhian, formed a chamber orchestra and prepared a high-quality program, which they presented in the Franz Liszt Hall at the Geneva Conservatory. This exceptional concert exclusively featured works by Armenian composers, offering the audience a remarkable overview of Armenia's musical heritage.

La veille de ce grand concert au Victoria Hall, les jeunes musiciens de lÉcole de musique P. I. Tchaïkovski dErevan, réunis sous la direction de David Maroukhian, ont formé un orchestre de musique de chambre et préparé un programme dune grande qualité, quils ont présenté dans la salle Franz Liszt du Conservatoire de Genève. Ce concert exceptionnel mettait exclusivement à lhonneur des œuvres de compositeurs arméniens, offrant au public un remarquable panorama du patrimoine musical de lArménie.

Beyond the artistic project, this trip also allowed the young Armenian musicians to discover Switzerland and its cultural heritage. They visited the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Museum, the Patek Philippe Museum, attended a rehearsal at the Geneva Opera, explored the backstage areas of Victoria Hall, and enjoyed the shores of Lake Geneva, admiring the famous Jet d'Eau.

Au-delà du projet artistique, ce séjour a également permis aux jeunes musiciens arméniens de découvrir la Suisse et son patrimoine culturel. Ils ont notamment visité le Musée international de la Croix-Rouge et du Croissant-Rouge, le Musée Patek Philippe, assisté à une répétition de lOpéra de Genève, découvert les coulisses du Victoria Hall et profité des rives du lac Léman en admirant le célèbre Jet deau.

This exceptional collaboration was part of the celebrations for the 190th anniversary of the Geneva Conservatory, symbolizing both friendship between peoples, artistic transmission between generations and the unifying power of music.
