The home [re]discovered by Bella Bablumian

I have had occasions to write before that I love journalism partly because one story often gives birth to another, which, in turn, can take on very unexpected forms over time.In 2013, we launched the 50 Global Armenians series, featuring Armenians living in various countries who had achieved significant success in the fields of science and education. One of the individuals featured was mathematician Arthur Petrosian, who worked at the U.S. National Institutes of Health. About a year and a half after the article was published, he wrote to the article s author, Aram Araratyan, mentioning that his cousin, Isabella Bablumian, who lives in Brazil, was working on an interesting project that might be of interest to Mediamax.We contacted Bella and learned that she and a friend had produced a documentary film titled Armenia Sings in Our Hearts. The film tells the stories of young people living in various Armenian communities who are involved in Armenian song and dance. Filming was largely complete, and funding still needed to be secured to cover the post-production costs.In the spring of 2015, Bella visited her homeland (she was born in Yerevan). I decided to introduce her to the team of the Aurora Humanitarian Initiative; the inaugural award ceremony was scheduled to take place in Yerevan that April, and I thought the film could somehow be integrated into the event. They discussed potential forms of collaboration at length, but in the end, things did not work out.Bella and her friends released the film in 2016.
