Նիկոդեմոս

One of the members of this Jewish Council, who sat to the left of the presiding officer, was called “the teacher.”

Հրեական այս Ատյանի անդամներից մեկը, որը բազմում էր ժողովը նախագահողի ձախ կողմում, կոչվում էր «վարդապետ»: Մեկնիչները ենթադրում են, որ Նիկոդեմոսը զբաղեցնում էր այդ բարձր դիրքը, և այդ ենթադրությունը հիմնավորվում է այն հանգամանքով, որ Հիսուս Նիկոդեմոսին կոչում է ոչ թե «Իսրայելի վարդապետներից մեկը», ինչպես որ անուշադրությամբ թարգմանում է Ավետարանի մեր աշխարհաբար տարբերակը, այլ նրան անվանում է հենց «Իսրայելի վարդապետ»:

Commentators assume that Nicodemus held this high position, and this assumption is supported by the fact that Jesus calls Nicodemus not “one of the teachers of Israel,” as our worldly version of the Gospel carelessly translates, but calls him “the teacher of Israel.”
