The 200th anniversary of the Armenian Church was celebrated in Istanbul

The event was attended by Archbishop Sahak Mashalyan, the Armenian Patriarch of Constantinople, Archbishop Aram Ateshyan, clergy, representatives of the church foundation and school, students and guests.

Միջոցառմանը մասնակցել են Կ․ Պոլսի հայոց պատրիարք Սահակ արքեպիսկոպոս Մաշալյանը, արքեպիսկոպոս Արամ Աթեշյանը, հոգևորականներ, եկեղեցու հիմնադրամի և դպրոցի ներկայացուցիչներ, աշակերտներ ու հյուրեր։

As part of the anniversary event, a cross-stone specially made in Armenia, authored by Artak Hambardzumyan, was unveiled in the church yard. The cross-stone was transported to Istanbul and installed in the yard of the St. Stepanos Church. Ara Çınar, the president of the church foundation, noted that the cross-stone should symbolize the unity and solidarity of the community.

Հոբելյանական միջոցառման շրջանակում եկեղեցու բակում բացվել է Հայաստանում հատուկ պատրաստված խաչքար, որը հեղինակել է Արտակ Համբարձումյանը։ Խաչքարը Ստամբուլ է տեղափոխվել և տեղադրվել Սուրբ Ստեփանոս եկեղեցու բակում։ Եկեղեցու հիմնադրամի նախագահ Արա Չընարը նշել է, որ խաչքարը պիտի խորհրդանշի համայնքի միասնությունն ու համերաշխությունը։

During the evening, musical performances were given by duduk player Gagik Gasparyan, mezzo-soprano Lerna Baloglu Akbulut, and deacon Edvin Galipyan. Works by Saint Nerses Shnorhali, Franz Schubert, and Komitas were performed.

Երեկոյի ընթացքում երաժշտական կատարումներով հանդես են եկել դուդուկահար Գագիկ Գասպարյանը, մեցցո-սոպրանո Լեռնա Բալօղլու Աքբուլութը և սարկավագ Էդվին Գալիփյանը։ Հնչել են Սուրբ Ներսես Շնորհալու, Ֆրանց Շուբերտի և Կոմիտասի ստեղծագործություններից։

“We are very happy. Our respect is boundless for those ancestors who founded these institutions and built the church in difficult conditions. We are trying to be worthy of them,” said Çınar.

«Մենք շատ ուրախ ենք։ Մեր հարգանքը անսահման է այն նախնիների հանդեպ, որոնք դժվար պայմաններում հիմնել են այս հաստատությունները և կառուցել եկեղեցին։ Մենք փորձում ենք արժանի լինել նրանց»,– ասել է Չընարը։
