The work to relocate a 5.5-kilometer section of the main gas pipeline running from Georgia to Armenia is expected to be completed in 2027. The Armenian Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure’s press service said this, citing data from Gazprom Armenia, Sputnik Armenia reported. Responding to a written media inquiry, the company said the preparation of design and cost-estimate documentation has already been completed. “Construction and installation work is scheduled for completion in the fourth quarter of 2027,” the response said. According to the company, the purpose of relocating the pipeline section is to ensure reliable and uninterrupted gas supplies to Armenia. The need stems from the main gas pipeline’s unsatisfactory technical condition and the lack of an opportunity to carry out major repairs. “Changing the pipeline route will improve the reliability of gas supplies. There are no risks of gas supply disruptions resulting from the work,” Gazprom Armenia said. The Georgian side has undertaken the financing and implementation of the project. The relocation of this section of the pipeline was discussed and agreed within the Armenian-Georgian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation.
