NATO receives Russian warning about possible use of nuclear weapons in case of attempted blockade of Kaliningrad

Mark Rutte confirmed receiving a Russian warning that Russia would use its entire arsenal, including nuclear weapons, if the alliance attempts to organize an air or sea blockade of the Kaliningrad region.

NATO receives Russian warning about possible use of nuclear weapons in case of attempted blockade of Kaliningrad

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte has confirmed that he has received a Russian warning, according to which Russia will use its entire arsenal, including nuclear weapons, if the alliance attempts to organize an air or sea blockade of the Kaliningrad region. This was reported by TASS.

“I cannot publish the content, but yes, we have received the letter, and this is approximately what they have reported to the media,” Rutte said, speaking at a military-space conference in Brussels.

At the same time, he called on the Baltic states “not to worry,” and NATO countries “to continue to support Ukraine and invest in armaments.”

The alliance’s Secretary General once again repeated the thesis that “NATO is a defensive alliance.”

Rutte also noted that he “does not believe the threats made by Russia.”

Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted that, for example, in the event of any attempt to blockade the Kaliningrad region, a nuclear response is stipulated by Russian regulatory documents, and this is what Russian diplomats are reminding the “hotheads” in Europe about.

Earlier, the Russian embassy in Brussels reported sending a diplomatic warning to the Belgian government and NATO headquarters that Brussels’ “adventurous and irresponsible” policy increases the risk of a direct clash with Russia, and that Russia “will use its entire arsenal of weapons in the event of any attempt to blockade Kaliningrad.”
