Rosatom cooperates with Armenia on the Nairit Project: Lichachov

As reported by TASS, Rosatom Director General Alexei Likhachev said this during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“We are working with Armenian partners on the Nairit project, I hope we will be able to help,” he noted.

«Հայաստանցի գործընկերների հետ աշխատում ենք «Նաիրիտ» նախագծի շուրջ, հուսով եմ՝ կկարողանանք օգնել»,- նշել է նա:

The issue of reducing public health and safety risks from hazardous substances at the former chemical complex and transforming the high-risk industrial area into a safe, usable area is a pressing issue in Armenia. On June 26, 2025, the government approved the proposal to sign a grant letter-agreement between the Republic of Armenia and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development for the preparation of a program for the environmental rehabilitation and regeneration of the Nairit plant. Within its framework, a grant of $1.5 million was to be provided to Armenia to prepare a program for the environmental rehabilitation and regeneration of the Nairit plant.

Հայաստանում արդիական խնդիր է նախկին քիմիական համալիրում վտանգավոր նյութերից հանրային առողջության և անվտանգության ռիսկերը նվազեցնելու և բարձր ռիսկայնության արդյունաբերական տարածքը անվտանգ, օգտագործելի տարածքի վերածելու հարցը: Կառավարությունը 2025թ. հունիսի 26-ին հավանություն է տվել Հայաստանի Հանրապետության և Վերակառուցման և զարգացման միջազգային բանկի միջև «Նաիրիտ» գործարանի բնապահպանական վերականգնման և ռեգեներացիայի ծրագրի նախապատրաստման համար դրամաշնորհի նամակ-համաձայնագրի ստորագրման առաջարկությանը: Դրա շրջանակներում 1,5 մլն դոլար դրամաշնորհ էր տրամադրվելու տալու Հայաստանին, որպեսզի նախապատրաստվեր «Նաիրիտ» գործարանի բնապահպանական վերականգնման և ռեգեներացիայի ծրագիրը։

Likhachev also added during his meeting with Putin that work is also continuing at the Armenian nuclear power plant. “Armenia cannot be left aside, as we are extending the plant’s operation. The leadership there will decide which way to go, but we are present there,” Likhachev said.

Լիխաչովը Պուտինի հետ հանդիպմանը նաև հավելել է, որ աշխատանքները շարունակվում են նաև Հայաստանի ատոմակայանում: «Չի կարելի մի կողմ թողնել Հայաստանը, քանի որ մենք երկարեցնում ենք կայանի գործունեությունը: Այնտեղ ղեկավարությունը որոշում կկայացնի, թե ինչ ճանապարհով գնալ, բայց մենք այնտեղ ներկա ենք»,- ասել է Լիխաչովը:

Armenia has already announced that it is carrying out work to extend the operation of the Metsamor nuclear power plant until 2036, and by then steps will be taken to build a new nuclear power plant. It has been decided that the new nuclear power plant will be of a modular type.

Հայաստանն արդեն հայտարարել է, որ աշխատանքներ է իրականացնում Մեծամորի ատոմակայանի գործունեության ժամկետը մինչև 2036 թվականը երկարաձգելու ուղղությամբ, իսկ մինչ այդ քայլեր կձեռնարկվեն նոր ատոմակայան կառուցելու համար։ Որոշվել է, որ նոր ատոմակայանը լինելու է մոդուլային տեսակի։
