Prose writer Vahagn Grigoryan has passed away

Vahagn Grigoryan, a talented prose writer, translator, children's writer, and long-time secretary of the Writers' Union of Armenia, has passed away at the age of eighty-four.

Ութսունչորս տարեկանում կյանքից հեռացել է տաղանդաշատ արձակագիր, թարգմանիչ, մանկագիր, Հայաստանի գրողների միության վարչության երկարամյա քարտուղար Վահագն Գրիգորյանը։

From his youth until the end of his life, Vahagn Grigoryan wrote and published numerous books that received the attention and praise of readers, writers, and literary critics: "Adamamut", "The Soul of a Bird", "The Life and Death of a Leader", "The River of Time", "Poghos-Petros".

Վահագն Գրիգորյանը երիտասարդ տարիներից մինչև իր կյանքի ավարտ գրել և հրատարակել է բազմաթիվ գրքեր, որոնք արժանացել են ընթերցողների, գրողների, գրականագետների ուշադրությանն ու դրվատանքին՝ «Ադամամութ», «Թռչունի հոգին», «Առաջնորդի կյանքն ու մահը», «Ժամանակի գետը», «Պողոս-Պետրոս»։

For his great literary merit, he was awarded a number of high awards: the Movses Khorenatsi Medal, the RA State, Hrant Matevosyan and HGU Best Prose Awards, as well as the First Degree Medal of Honor of the RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs for his great contribution to the development and strengthening of Armenian-Lithuanian literary and cultural ties.

Գրական մեծ վաստակի համար արժանացել է մի շարք բարձր պարգևների՝ Մովսես Խորենացի մեդալի, ՀՀ պետական, Հրանտ Մաթևոսյանի անվան և ՀԳՄ լավագույն արձակ մրցանակների, ինչպես նաև հայ-լիտվական գրական և մշակութային կապերի զարգացման և ամրապնդման գործում ունեցած մեծ ավանդի համար արժանացել է ՀՀ արտաքին գործերի նախարարության Առաջին աստիճանի Պատվո մեդալի։

“The novel “The King’s Little Son”, published in “Garun” at the time, received numerous encouraging articles and high praise.

«Ժամանակին «Գարուն»-ում տպագրված «Թագավորի փոքր որդին» վիպակն արժանացել է բազմաթիվ խրախուսական հոդվածների և բարձր գնահատանքի։

During his years as Secretary of the Writers’ Union, Vahagn Grigoryan contributed to the development of literary life. His human form, a beloved noble character… Having lived in Lithuania for many years, he was the literary ambassador of the Writers’ Union there and was always interested in the daily events of Armenian literary life, literary works, the course of the legal process of the real estate of the Writers’ Union, and on that occasion he had a statement of disagreement. "Full-length feature films have been shot at the "Hayfilm" film studio with scripts written based on his novels and short stories, and a number of animated films based on fairy tales, and one of the stories was even screened in France," the statement says, emphasizing that the works of the multi-awarded writer have been translated into a number of foreign languages: Russian, Bulgarian, Italian, Romanian, Estonian. He has also made translations from Russian and Lithuanian.

Գրողների միությունում ՀԳՄ քարտուղար աշխատած տարիներին Վահագն Գրիգորյանը նպաստել է գրական կյանքի զարգացմանը։ Նրա մարդկային կերպը՝ սիրված ազնվագույն կերպար… Երկար տարիներ ապրելով Լիտվայում՝ նա գրողների միության գրական դեսպանն է եղել այնտեղ և միշտ հետաքրքրվել է Հայաստանի գրական կյանքի ամենօրյա անցուդարձով, գրական աշխատանքներով, ՀԳՄ անշարժ գույքի դատական պրոցեսի ընթացքով և այդ առիթով իր անհամաձայնությունն էր եղել հայտարարությամբ։ Նրա վեպերի և վիպակների հիման վրա գրված սցենարներով «Հայֆիլմ» կինոստուդիայում նկարահանվել են լիամետրաժ գեղարվեստական ֆիլմեր, իսկ հեքիաթների թեմաներով՝ մի շարք մուլտիպլիկացիոն ֆիլմեր, պատմվածքներից մեկն էլ էկրանավորվել է Ֆրանսիայում»,-ասվում է հաղորդագրության մեջ և ընդգծվում, որ բազմավաստակ գրողի ստեղծագործությունները թարգմանվել են մի շարք օտար լեզուներով՝ ռուսերեն, բուլղարերեն, իտալերեն, ռումիներեն, էստոներեն։ Նա ևս կատարել է թարգմանություններ ռուսերենից և լիտվերենից։

"The loss of our wonderful writer friend is a heavy pain for the entire literary family. The heartbeat of his literature will always be heard in the souls of readers and writers...", the statement says.

«Մեր հրաշալի գրող ընկերոջ կորուստը ծանր ցավ է ողջ գրական ընտանիքի համար։ Նրա գրականության սրտի զարկը միշտ կլսվի ընթերցողների և գրողների հոգիներում…»,-ասվում է հաղորդագրության տեքստում։
