Speaking about the “Peace Bridge” initiative, the analyst notes that it is currently frozen.

Referring to the topics periodically circulated by Baku, including the presentation of the economic activity of the Armenian side in Artsakh as “plunder,” the analyst emphasizes: “Any economic activity… in Nagorno-Karabakh until 2020 can be interpreted by Azerbaijan as plunder. Although we understand that real life should not have such simplistic approaches.” According to him, Baku would look much better in the eyes of the international community if it “accepted the investment of Armenians in its territory… and had a clear plan to preserve it.”

Regarding one of the most difficult points of the negotiations, the enclaves, Navasardyan notes: “It is very difficult to find a solution that would satisfy both sides.” According to the analyst, if no agreement is reached, the situation may escalate.

Analyzing the influence of international actors in our region, Boris Navasardyan points to the decrease in the role of the United States and the activation of Russia.

Վերլուծելով միջազգային դերակատարների ազդեցությունը մեր տարածաշրջանում՝ Բորիս Նավասարդյանը մատնանշում է Միացյալ Նահանգների դերի նվազումը և Ռուսաստանի ակտիվացումը։

“The weight of the United States in terms of resolving issues in our region… is less than it could be. In addition, there is political turbulence within the United States, which also does not contribute to the United States resolving any decisive issues in our region,” he explains.

«ԱՄՆ կշիռը մեր տարածաշրջանում հարցերի լուծման տեսակետից… պակաս է, քան կարող էր լինել։ Դրան գումարած՝ ԱՄՆ ներսում կա քաղաքական տուրբուլենտություն, որը նույնպես չի նպաստում նրան, որ ԱՄՆ-ն ինչ-որ վճռական հարցեր լուծի մեր տարածաշրջանում»,- պարզաբանում է նա։

Against the backdrop of the weakening of the US position, according to him, Moscow’s influence in the tension zone is increasing. “In these conditions, the need to protect Azerbaijan from additional pressure is decreasing, and some of Russia’s proposals or threats from Russia are gaining additional importance for both Azerbaijan and Armenia.”

At the same time, Navasardyan emphasizes the difference in Russia’s style of action towards the two countries: “We see how intensively Russia is working, even with serious problems in Ukraine, also towards Yerevan and Baku. The nature of this work is different: if in the case of Armenia the language of threats is mainly used, in the case of Azerbaijan it is more persuasive…”

Միևնույն ժամանակ, Նավասարդյանն ընդգծում է Ռուսաստանի գործելաոճի տարբերությունը երկու երկրների նկատմամբ. «Մենք տեսնում ենք, ինչքանով ինտենսիվ է աշխատում Ռուսաստանը անգամ ունենալով լուրջ խնդիրներ Ուկրաինայում, նաև Երևանի և Բաքվի ուղղությամբ։ Այդ աշխատանքի բնույթը տարբեր է. եթե Հայաստանի պարագայում հիմնականում սպառնալիքների լեզուն է օգտագործվում, Ադրբեջանի դեպքում ավելի շատ համոզելու…»։
