Several dozen people gathered at 10 am to participate in a small event dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Armenia, at the end of which the “Manneken Pis” sprayed water on those present.

In the morning, French, Dutch and Armenian were mixed near the statue. Several dozen people gathered at 10 am to participate in a small event dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Armenia, at the end of which the “Manneken Pis” sprayed water on those present.

Առավոտյան արձանի մոտ միախառնվել էին ֆրանսերենը, նիդերլանդերենն ու հայերենը։ Մի քանի տասնյակ մարդ առավոտյան ժամը 10-ին հավաքվել էր՝ մասնակցելու ՀՀ անկախության 35-ամյակին նվիրված փոքրիկ միջոցառմանը, որի ավարտին «Միզող տղան» ջուր ցողեց ներկաների վրա։

“Long live the Republic of Armenia,” Armenian Ambassador to the European Union Tigran Balayan concluded his French speech in Armenian with these words a few minutes earlier.

«Կեցցե՛ Հայաստանի Հանրապետությունը»,- դրանից րոպեներ առաջ ֆրանսերեն ելույթը հայերեն այս խոսքերով ավարտեց Եվրամիությունում Հայաստանի դեսպան Տիգրան Բալայանը։

The event was organized by Anna Hovsepyan, a member of the municipal council of Jette, one of the 19 communities of Brussels. In an interview with Factor TV, she noted that Manneken Pis is dressed in appropriate outfits on the occasion of national holidays of different countries, including independence days. According to Anna Hovsepyan, the statue last wore an Armenian costume in 2018, so she initiated this costume change on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of Armenia’s independence.

Միջոցառումը կազմակերպել էր Բրյուսելի 19 համայնքներից մեկի՝ Ջեթի (Jette) համայնքային խորհրդի անդամ Աննա Հովսեփյանը։ Factor TV-ի հետ զրույցում նա նշեց, որ Manneken Pis-ին տարբեր երկրների ազգային տոների, այդ թվում՝ անկախության օրերի առիթով, հագցնում են համապատասխան հանդերձանքներ։ Աննա Հովսեփյանի խոսքով՝ արձանը հայկական տարազը վերջին անգամ հագել էր 2018 թվականին, ուստի նախաձեռնեց այս զգեստափոխությունը՝ Հայաստանի անկախության 35-ամյակի կապակցությամբ։

Manneken Pis has more than 1,100 official outfits, which are kept in its wardrobe-museum, GardeRobe MannekenPis.

Manneken Pis-ն ունի ավելի քան 1100 պաշտոնական հանդերձանք, որոնք պահվում են նրա զգեստապահարան-թանգարանում՝ GardeRobe MannekenPis-ում։

Anna Hovsepyan noted that the Armenian costume was donated by Armenia in 2000 as a token of gratitude for the support provided by Belgium after the 1988 Spitak earthquake. According to the museum’s website, the traditional outfit was donated by the Armenian Embassy in Belgium. It is the 662nd outfit in the Manneken Pis collection.

Աննա Հովսեփյանը նշեց, որ հայկական տարազը 2000 թվականին նվիրաբերվել է Հայաստանի կողմից՝ ի նշան երախտագիտության 1988 թվականի Սպիտակի երկրաշարժից հետո Բելգիայի ցուցաբերած աջակցության։ Թանգարանի կայքի տվյալներով՝ ավանդական հանդերձանքը նվիրել է Բելգիայում Հայաստանի դեսպանությունը։ Այն Manneken Pis-ի հավաքածուի 662-րդ զգեստն է։

One of the most active participants in the event was Marc Guebel, the president of the “Ordre des Amis de Manneken Pis” (Order of Friends of Manneken Pis), who announced the opening of the event organized on the occasion of Armenia’s Independence Day.

Միջոցառման ամենաակտիվ մասնակիցներից էր «Manneken Pis-ի բարեկամների միաբանության» (Ordre des Amis de Manneken Pis) նախագահ Մարկ Գուեբելը, որը հայտարարեց Հայաստանի անկախության օրվա առիթով կազմակերպված միջոցառման բացումը։

The members of the congregation solemnly perform the ceremony of changing the statue's costume. At the end of the event, they also performed a song dedicated to Manneken Pis.

Միաբանության անդամները հանդիսավոր կերպով իրականացնում են արձանի զգեստափոխության արարողությունները։ Միջոցառման ավարտին նրանք կատարեցին նաև Manneken Pis-ին նվիրված երգը։

There are several legends about the origin of the "Pising Boy". The most famous version is that the little boy extinguished the fuse of gunpowder placed by the enemies near the city walls with his urine, thus saving Brussels from an explosion and a devastating fire.

«Միզող տղայի» ծագման մասին մի քանի լեգենդ կա։ Ամենահայտնի տարբերակով՝ փոքրիկ տղան իր մեզով հանգցրել է քաղաքի պարիսպների մոտ թշնամիների տեղադրած վառոդի պատրույգը՝ այդպիսով փրկելով Բրյուսելը պայթյունից և ավերիչ հրդեհից։

The "Pising Boy" is a bronze statue-fountain in the form of a naked little boy, which shoots a jet of water into the fountain basin.

«Միզող տղան» մերկ փոքրիկ տղայի տեսքով բրոնզե արձան-շատրվան է, որը ջրի շիթ է արձակում շատրվանի ավազանի մեջ։

By the way, the "Pising Boy" stayed in the Armenian costume for only three hours, after which he put on the outfit of a hip-hop dancer.

Ի դեպ, «Միզող տղան» հայկական տարազով մնաց ընդամենը երեք ժամ, որից հետո հագավ Հիփ-հոփ պարողի հանդերձանք։
