Children in Gaza return to existing education after 3 years

Hundreds of thousands of children in Gaza returned to formal education on Saturday for the first time in nearly three years. Classes are being held in damaged or makeshift school buildings and tents, and many families have struggled to afford school uniforms, notebooks and pens.

Գազայի հարյուր հազարավոր երեխաներ շաբաթ օրը գրեթե երեք տարվա դադարից հետո առաջին անգամ վերադարձել են առկա ուսուցման։ Դասերը անցկացվում են վնասված կամ ժամանակավոր դպրոցական շենքերում և վրաններում, իսկ շատ ընտանիքների համար դպրոցական համազգեստ, տետրեր ու գրիչներ ձեռք բերելը դժվարացել է։

According to UNICEF, 98% of Gaza’s schools have been destroyed or damaged during the war. Education officials say some 660,000 students have been deprived of formal education.

ՅՈՒՆԻՍԵՖ-ի տվյալներով՝ Գազայի դպրոցների 98%-ը պատերազմի ընթացքում ավերվել կամ վնասվել է։ Կրթության ոլորտի պաշտոնյաների տվյալներով՝ շուրջ 660 հազար աշակերտ զրկվել է առկա ուսուցումից։

Dozens of temporary schools made of tents, tarpaulins, metal sheets and wood have been set up for the 2026-2027 school year. Education officials say at least 540,000 students will attend formal education this year. Online learning will continue for children who are unable to attend classes or who have fled Gaza during the war.

2026-2027 ուսումնական տարվա համար ստեղծվել են տասնյակ ժամանակավոր դպրոցներ՝ վրաններից, բրեզենտից, մետաղական թիթեղներից և փայտից։ Կրթության ոլորտի պաշտոնյաների տվյալներով՝ այս տարի առկա դասերին կմասնակցի առնվազն 540 հազար աշակերտ։ Դասերին չկարողացող կամ պատերազմի ընթացքում Գազայից հեռացած երեխաների համար առցանց ուսուցումը կշարունակվի։

Children who have returned to school have spoken of the hardships caused by the war. Some of them mentioned that they do not have the necessary stationery or even appropriate shoes, but they want to continue their studies.

Դպրոց վերադարձած երեխաները պատմել են պատերազմի հետևանքով առաջացած դժվարությունների մասին։ Նրանցից ոմանք նշել են, որ չունեն անհրաժեշտ գրենական պիտույքներ և անգամ համապատասխան կոշիկներ, սակայն ցանկանում են շարունակել ուսումը։
