Congratulatory message of His Holiness Karekin II, Catholicos of All Armenians, on the occasion of Independence Day

From the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, we bring our Patriarchal blessing to our people in the Homeland and in the Diaspora and congratulate them on the occasion of Independence Day.

Մայր Աթոռ Սուրբ Էջմիածնից Հայրապետական Մեր օրհնութիւնն ենք բերում մեր ժողովրդին ի Հայրենիս եւ ի Սփիւռս եւ շնորհաւորում Անկախութեան տօնի առիթով։

Today we celebrate the 35th anniversary of the re-establishment of the independent Armenian statehood. During these years, our homeland has gone through many trials, but our people have never been discouraged, have never despaired, and have continued the sacred mission of homeland building at the cost of great sacrifices and have used their potential for national awakening.

Այսօր տօնախմբում ենք Հայոց անկախ պետականութեան վերահաստատման 35-րդ տարեդարձը։ Այս տարիների ընթացքում մեր հայրենիքն անցել է բազում փորձութիւնների միջով, սակայն մեր ժողովուրդը երբեք չի ընկճւել, չի յուսահատւել, մեծ զոհողութիւնների գնով անգամ շարունակել է հայրենաշինութեան սրբազան առաքելութիւնը եւ իր ներուժը ծառայեցրել ազգային զարթօնքին։

Independence Day today is an invitation for us to re-evaluate the path we have taken and the course of our lives. In the current difficult circumstances, more than ever, it is necessary to be united and remain united around the homeland in order to be able to confront internal and external threats. Strengthened by the spirit of the Independence Day holiday, let us build and brighten our country with unremitting dedication and defend with all zeal and responsibility the right of our people to a free and secure life on this sacred land. Let us firmly hold on to the hope, faith and love of Christ, remain faithful to our national-spiritual values and together build a just, law-abiding, and united society for the sake of our secure and bright future.

Անկախութեան տօնն այսօր հրաւէր է մեզ վերարժեւորելու անցած ուղին եւ մեր կեանքի ընթացքը։ Ներկայիս բարդ պայմաններում, առաւել քան երբեւէ, անհրաժեշտ է լինել միասնական եւ մնալ համախմբւած հայրենիքի շուրջ, որպէսզի կարողանանք դիմագրաւել ներքին ու արտաքին սպառնալիքներին։ Անկախութեան տօնական օրւայ խորհրդով զօրացած՝ անմնացորդ նւիրումով շենացնենք ու պայծառացնենք մեր երկիրը եւ ամենայն նախանձախնդրութեամբ ու պատասխանատւութեամբ պաշտպանենք մեր ժողովրդի ազատ ու անվտանգ կեանքի իրաւունքը այս սրբազան հողի վրայ։ Ամուր պահենք Քրիստոսաւանդ յոյսը, հաւատն ու սէրը, հաւատարիմ մնանք ազգային-հոգեւոր մեր արժէքներին եւ միասնաբար կերտենք արդար, օրինայարգ, համերաշխ հասարակութիւն՝ յանուն մեր ապահով ու լուսաւոր ապագայի։

We raise a prayer to God to keep our homeland in peace, to guide our people with the wisdom of His Holy Spirit and to grant them a prosperous and progressive life. Amen.
