US reports sinking of suspected drug cartel ship

The US military on September 16 destroyed another vessel in the eastern Pacific Ocean, which was reportedly used by an Ecuadorian drug cartel, the US Southern Command said.

“Intelligence has confirmed that the vessel was associated with the violent drug trafficking organization Los Choneros. The persons on board were handed over to Ecuadorian authorities. When the vessel was inspected and the crew disembarked, the US military sank it,” the command said in a statement.
