US President Donald Trump has said that allowing Canada to become an associate member of the European Union could be seen as a “hostile act.” He has threatened to respond to the proposed move by imposing additional tariffs on goods imported from the bloc.

ԱՄՆ նախագահ Դոնալդ Թրամփը հայտարարել է, որ Կանադային Եվրոպական միության ասոցացված անդամ դառնալու թույլտվությունը կարող է դիտարկվել որպես «թշնամական ակտ»։ Նա սպառնացել է առաջարկված քայլին արձագանքել այդ բլոկից ներմուծվող ապրանքների վրա հավելյալ մաքսատուրքերի սահմանմամբ:

“If the intentions are good, then everything is fine. If the intentions are bad, we will impose very high tariffs on goods imported from Europe,” he said, not ruling out the possibility that the US could stop trade with some European countries.

«Եթե մտադրությունները բարի են, ապա ամեն ինչ կարգին է: Եթե մտադրությունները վատն են, մենք Եվրոպայից ներմուծվող ապրանքների վրա շատ բարձր մաքսատուրքեր կսահմանենք»,- ասել է նա՝ չբացառելով, որ եվրոպական որոշ երկրների հետ ԱՄՆ-ը կարող է դադարեցնել առևտուրը։

Trump has called the prospect of Canada joining the EU “ridiculous” and described America’s neighbor as a “terrible trading partner.”

Թրամփը ԵՄ-ին Կանադայի անդամակցության հեռանկարն անվանել է «ծիծաղելի» և Ամերիկայի հարևանին բնութագրել որպես «սարսափելի առևտրային գործընկեր»:
